Gods and Generals: Extended Director's Cut --Troops Get Order
This scene is in the movie "God's and Generals", one of the best Civil War films I have seen. The setting is just before the ungodly battle of Fredericksburg, in late 1862. It was filmed in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia!
Interestingly enough, the reenactors posing as the 20th Maine in this shot are members of the 4th US Infantry, Company H, which is a brother unit of my company, 4th US Infantry, Company G. I will be marching with these guys next year at the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg, Lord willing
I instantly knew that is was filmed in Harpers Ferry. I had to google it to be sure but that sloped road was a dead giveaway. Harpers Ferry is very distinctive. At least to those of us that leave near it.
